The Shibetsu Fin was developed at the Toyota Proving Ground in Shibetsu, Hokkaido, an area known for its extremely cold and harsh environment.
By attaching multiple sheet-like fins to the underside of a vehicle, the airflow beneath and behind the vehicle is improved, which is expected to enhance driving stability when cornering, driving straight, and during external disturbances such as crosswinds.
