Engine intake air temperature is monitored at two points: the air cleaner and the intake manifold. However, during repeated laps on a circuit, the sensor itself heats up due to the hot air—reaching nearly 100°C—that has passed through the radiator located in front of it.

As a result, the ECU receives a temperature reading higher than the actual air temperature entering the intake manifold. Interpreting this as high intake air temperature, the ECU restricts engine output, causing the driver to experience a drop in power—or “fade”—as driving continues.

The new “Intake Air Temperature Sensor Cooling Duct” efficiently channels airflow from the bumper opening to cool the area around the intake manifold’s intake air temperature sensor. By enabling accurate measurement of the actual intake air temperature, it maintains the engine’s true power output and ensures stable, continuous driving with minimal power fade.
It delivers consistent performance even in demanding conditions, such as circuit driving.
